Bartender/Sommelier
We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Front of House Employee to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that guests have a positive experience from the moment they arrive at our operation until they leave. This role requires excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
We fondly refer to this role as the “Jack of All Trades,” as you will be asked to perform a variety of tasks to keep our facilities up and running. Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
Driving the company’s vans, shuttling guests and employees around town. You must be approved by ABG’s commercial vehicle insurance provider.
Maintain cleanliness of all ABG facilities and equipment.
Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up tables, restocking supplies, and ensuring all areas are clean and ready for service.
Repairs and maintenance of ABG vehicles, equipment and facilities; the ability to be handy in a remote town is a coveted skillset.
Serve food and drinks to guests promptly and courteously, ensuring presentation and quality standards are met.
Assisting with heliski operations as needed.
This is a seasonal role, from Feb-April, housing is included as part of this position.

We are seeking a warm, skilled, and guest-focused Bartender / Sommelier to join the Alaska Backcountry Guides team. If you love great drink service and want to help deliver a memorable après-ski experience—this role could be perfect for you.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage all bar operations: setup, service, and closing procedures.
Curate, maintain, and rotate the wine, spirits, and beer selection to reflect quality and guest preferences.
Work with our chef to select wine pairings with dinner.
Craft and serve cocktails, with consistency, flair, and attention to detail.
Maintain inventory: track usage, place orders, manage deliveries, and work with suppliers to ensure stock meets guest needs.
Monitor costs, control waste, and support budgeting efforts.
Ensure all service meets or exceeds health, safety, and Alaska liquor-licensing standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and well-stocked bar environment.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to deliver excellent guest experience—both in service & ambiance.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Previous bartending experience in a lodge, resort, or high-volume hospitality setting.
Strong wine knowledge; formal training or certification as a Sommelier is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly, professional, and able to engage guests.
Strong organizational ability; comfort handling ordering, inventory tracking, and supplier coordination.
Ability to work in a remote, seasonal lodge environment; adaptable and collaborative.
Must be 21+ and legally authorized to serve alcohol in Alaska.

Senior Heliski or snowboard guide
Massage Therapist
We are seeking experienced heliski or snowboard guides to join our team. Applicants must be confident leading clients through complex avalanche terrain in a mechanized setting.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum Level 1 Pro Avalanche Certification (or equivalent Canadian certification)
Current WFR Certification (EMT desired)
AMGA/CSGA/ACMG/IFMGA Guide Certifications
Proficient with ropes and rescue equipment
Previous work in heliski guiding (Minimum 10+ years of front seat guiding)
Ski Patrol and/or forecasting experience
Advanced knowledge of our terrain (Chugach Mountains)

The ideal candidate will specialize in therapeutic, sport, & relaxing massages, with a focus on helping skiers and snowboarders recover from the intense physical demands of the day. This role involves providing tailored therapeutic massages to reduce muscle soreness, improve flexibility, and enhance recovery after rigorous days on the mountain. A calm, positive demeanor and dedication to the wellness of our active clients are essential.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Previous experience as a massage therapist at a luxury hotel, spa, recreation lodge, or similar location.
Knowledge of yoga, physical therapy, and/or fitness
Proficiency in sports and therapeutic massage techniques.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and contribute to a team-oriented culture.
Availability to work flexible hours, as needed by ABG’s clientele.
